It's Already June!

Can you believe June is already here!?! The year is passing so quickly! Things are moving along here at the farm. Tennessee is green and warm and we've had lots of rain. Do you see how muddy Louise's paws are?!

The puppies are getting huge and based on how big their paws are they have lots of growing in them still. They love playing in the mud, chasing the cat and hanging out with the animals. Thelma and Louise still love the piggies

The pigs are happy having their outside area! And are getting buckets of weeds from the garden and scraps from the kitchen which makes them happy. With their outside area the pigs can see me walking past and get excited every time expecting food or treats, especially the little red boy. He starts snorting and dancing hoping for something tasty. The dogs like to go inside the pig pen and hang out with them now.

The biggest new of all though is that we have a baby highland calf! I was out feeding cows at the end of April and thought that Daisy looked very pregnant. Sent a photo to my husband who agreed and when my dad returned to the farm later in the week I mentioned to him also. The next day he agreed that he thought she looked pregnant too. So he contacted the farm we got our highland cows from. She was kept in the same pasture as their bull so there was a good chance she could be pregnant and due anytime! My dad had a week at the farm here by himself between when I went back to Minnesota and my mom came down for a week. Guess when she had the baby? While he was by himself of course! He has never dealt with a baby calf and was a bit nervous, especially when he had been told that Daisy is usually a very protective mama. Its a little white girl who is real cute! I have been calling her Mae. so we have Daisy Mae. What do you all think?

Something that has happened since I first started writing this post. Daisy and Mae are in the old cow barn. Mae had slipped through the fence into another section of the barn. Daisy is very, very protective of Mae. My dad had been out there and was trying to get Mae through the fence to go back with her mama. Daisy jumped the fence to get over to Mae! Needless to say my dad was taken by surprise because Daisy has never challenged a fence before. So he got them back together and added an extra rail to the fence!

My uncle is in Tennessee for a few weeks to help get the alpaca barn, restrooms and the bathhouse for the glamping tents built. I will have an update on those soon!

Until then!

Dani
